Mortlake BESS
Supporting Battery Storage Expansion in Southwest Victoria
Origin Energy is expanding its infrastructure at Mortlake Power Station with the construction of a grid-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). With a planned output of up to 650 MWh, the battery will support Victoria’s renewable energy network by storing excess power and improving grid reliability.
Located within the South-West Renewable Energy Zone, the project is a key component of Origin’s strategy to enable a cleaner and more flexible energy future.
To support project visibility, Origin Energy deployed three Evercam construction cameras across the site. These jobsite cameras provide remote access to live views and recordings, helping site and office-based teams stay aligned throughout construction.
Evercam is used to:
- Track site progress remotely
- Improve documentation for reporting and compliance
- Enable communication between on-site teams and the head office
- Support HSE and incident review processes
All cameras are actively recording during working hours and positioned to capture the development of key infrastructure, including the BESS substation and battery installation areas.
Project Highlights
- Up to 300 MW, delivering 650 MWh of storage capacity
- 3 fixed-position Evercam cameras installed for live monitoring and recording
- Progress tracking, incident review, stakeholder communication, and project documentation
