Latrobe Valley Battery Energy Storage System
The Latrobe Valley Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), located beside the Morwell Terminal Station on Monash Way in Morwell, Victoria, is a grid-scale energy storage facility supporting Victoria’s electricity network. The project provides one hundred megawatts of dispatchable power with two hundred megawatt-hours of storage and is now fully operational.
Positioned next to existing transmission infrastructure, the facility stores power when there is a lot of energy available, for example during the middle of the day when there is excess solar entering the grid. It releases that energy during periods of peak demand. This helps manage load variability and supports network stability as renewable generation increases across the state.
During construction and commissioning, projects of this scale require clear records of site activity, installation sequencing and asset condition. Visual documentation supports coordination between delivery partners and provides evidence for review after handover.
Evercam was used to maintain a visual record of the project. Fixed-position cameras, combined with scheduled capture, allowed teams to review progress over time and reference site conditions without returning to site.
At project completion, the recorded footage forms a long-term visual record of the build. This material supports asset documentation and future operational review.
Highlights:
Evercam is used to support the project in the following ways:
- Provide ongoing visibility of site activity through live and recorded video
- Record construction progress and key milestones over time
- Support quality review, safety review and internal reporting
- Maintain an as-built visual reference for future maintenance and upgrades
